Connect your first bank account

Connect a bank account and start importing transactions automatically.

Connect a bank account when you want WonderMoney to import balances and transactions automatically. During onboarding you can connect a bank directly from the account step; this page covers the standalone path, for example when you add another bank later from the app. The inline flow during onboarding is the recommended path for your first connection.

Before you start

Check that your bank supports an Open Banking connection and that you can approve access in your bank app or website. Keep the account login for the bank separate from your WonderMoney password.

Steps

  1. Open the bank connection flow from settings.
  2. Pick the country where your bank operates.
  3. Choose your bank and sign in with the bank provider.
  4. Review the permissions and select the accounts to connect.
  5. Confirm the connection and wait for the first sync.

Country selector

The country selector comes first in the connection flow. Choose the country where your bank operates; the available banks are shown for that country. While the connection is being set up, the sync status line shows live progress against the bank.

Resume after a return

If approval takes you away to GoCardless and back, the flow resumes from the right step and the sync status keeps updating until the connection is ready. You do not need to restart the connection.

Review the first import

After the sync finishes, confirm that the account name, balance, and most recent transactions look right. If an account is missing, check whether it was excluded during selection.

Common issues

  • The bank session expires before approval is completed.
  • The wrong account was selected at the permission step.
  • The first sync is still processing.
  • The bank requires a second approval in its own app.
  • A connection started during onboarding was abandoned and the app returned to the dashboard.
